Franchisee Profile - Tony Robinson
In honor of Black History Month, we are continuing to highlight members of the Burger King family and Franchisee community!
Tony Robinson first joined the Burger King system 38 years ago as an Assistant General Manager, and worked as both a Restaurant General Manager and Training Manager before being asked to open a new Burger King location and realizing he had a passion to become a Franchisee. Now, Tony is the Chief Operating Officer at Genesh Inc. and has been an operator for more than 31 years, managing 51 BK restaurants across Kansas and Missouri.
Throughout the many positions that Tony has held, his favorite part of working for the brand is building relationships – whether it be his colleagues at Genesh Inc, the newest Team Member at one of their restaurants, or the Guests that are served each day. Every day he gets up and learns about the people that make up the organization, different parts about his role, and the impact that the team has on each other.
Tony has had so many people help him throughout the years, and he wants to do the same for the people in his organization. His advice to someone starting out with the brand speaks is to “just try to keep learning, a little more each day than you did yesterday.”
When asked about his Team Members, Tony has nothing but positive things to say. He values the many relationships with people across his organization and looks to them for their leadership just as much as they look to him.
"As COO, it is important that we have systems in place so that Team Members can develop in the restaurant, learn how to lead others, motivate others, and can develop into whatever they want this business to be for them."
Tony started his journey with BK like many current Team Members, and he had no idea that this would be his profession and the brand would provide the opportunities it has. "It has been amazing to see so many members of our teams start at one level, and with the coaching and encouragement of the entire team, fulfill their dreams at BK."
